Welcome to Grandmamma - the blog site of David Roberts where I offer essays, observations and painted work you might call 'atmospheric'.

Grandmamma began as a simple repository of my paintings and illustrations. Then I added a few written notepad musings and stored them here too.

Next came the notion that could be something a bit more - maybe an experimental playground for the illustrated essay.

So when you click on 'Blog' above, you will find that each entry or observation is accompanied by a painted work. Sometimes I write the essay and then illustrate it. Other times it is the reverse. I try to resist all styles and genres since I don't know what they are anyway. Should it matter if we are outsiders, insiders, impressionists, expressionists, contortionists or extortionists?

Now that you're here, why not stick around? Instigate. Skip lunch. Post a public comment. Or email me. Buy a Painting. Join the fray. I'd love that, the more the merrier.
